Notice of AADD Enhancements

The AADD was originally provided to you at your account opening and is intended to help you understand your relationship with Aviso Wealth (i.e., Credential Securities or Credential Asset Management) and our services, products, costs, and other relevant information to your account.

We have updated this document as a result of the Client Focused Reforms (“Reforms”) which is a regulatory initiative aimed at refreshing investment industry rules and practices. These enhancements do not change the terms of your Account Agreement and only serve to deliver clear and plain disclosure as required by law.

Overview of Client Focused Reforms

The Canadian Investment Industry is undergoing some enhancements to its rules with the goal of better aligning your interests as a client with the interests of your advisor and Aviso Wealth, which are known as the Reforms. The Reforms are based on the fundamental concept that your interests must always come first when receiving investment recommendations, guidance, or other investment related information. Here at Aviso Wealth, we have always taken a client-first approach and stand committed to servicing you and what is in your best interest. The Reforms do require some enhancements on our part, but they also provide greater visibility of our efforts to always operate at a high standard.

The Reforms were implemented in two phases: Conflicts of Interest (June 30, 2021) and Relationship Disclosure (December 30, 2021).

For more information on the Reforms, please visit the Canadian Securities Administrators website.

Conflicts of Interest - June 2021 Update

What exactly is a conflict of interest? Simply, it means that what is best for you should always come first. For any decisions we make, we always consider how you can benefit first, with our interests coming second. To give you direct comfort on how we manage conflicts of interest and ensure your interests come first, we have updated the Conflicts of Interest section to provide:

  • A List of Aviso Wealth’s conflicts of interest, for instance we already disclose the fact that there are companies we are affiliated with (i.e., Desjardins, Fiera Capital, etc.);
  • A short explanation of each conflict; and
  • How we address the conflict in your best interest.

Relationship Disclosure – December 2021 Update

These enhancements focus on steps we can take to better know you as a client, choose products that are the most suitable based on your needs and to take steps to understand those products that are used to help grow your investments. This is reflected in the updates we have made to the language in the Relationship Disclosure section of the AADD:

  • Mutual Funds and their costs;
  • Know Your Product (KYP) and Know Your Client (KYC) responsibilities and
  • Suitability of our investment recommendations.

Note: Copies of these changes were included as inserts in the corresponding quarterly statement.
